ISO 14001 Certification

A transparent and effective environmental management system – guaranteed. One after the other,   GLS subsidiaries will be certified by DEKRA as meeting the ISO 14001 standard. GLS Netherlands was certified in March 2011. Further companies are planned to follow suit in 2011/12.

Internal Eco Footprint

Every year, we collect and consolidate all the respective data related to our three target categories – emissions, resources and waste management – from more than 350 locations throughout Europe. The method we use is based on the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and the ISO 14064 standard and will be verified externally by DEKRA in spring 2011. Our internal Eco Footprint also provides the basis to calculate our per-parcel carbon emissions.

Environmental Representatives

We have 22 local Environmental Representatives out there every day in all European GLS countries ensuring that group-wide measures are being carried out at the local level. They promote the exchange of ideas and best ThinkGreen practices throughout the group. As the local contact persons, they are the front line when it comes to gathering internal Eco Footprint data and results.
